FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the Connecticut Health Foundation?

The Connecticut Health Foundation (CT Health) is the state's largest independent, nonprofit grant-making foundation dedicated to improving the health status of the people of Connecticut – particularly those who are unserved or underserved -- through systemic change and program innovation.  The foundation focuses its resources on strategies that make qualitative and measurable differences in the health and well-being of individuals, their families and their communities in three areas -- children's oral health, children’s mental health, and racial and ethnic health disparities.

Aside from directly supporting grant proposals, CT Health fosters discussions surrounding public health issues through conferences, meetings, educational briefings, workshops, etc. The foundation also invests resources into conducting objective research on issues important to health policy debate, such as Connecticut’s spending cap, proposed restructuring of the federal Medicaid program and the oral health of publicly insured children throughout the state.
